Tony Quested from BusinessWeekly.co.uk reported today that a “high profile delegation” from Disney is on a two-day visit to scope out the possibility of bringing Disney Research to the Cambridge area.
According to their web site, Disney Research is an “informal, collegiate association of research labs within The Walt Disney Company that share the common mission of inventing new technologies for the media & entertainment industry.” Disney Research is focused on a wide array of topics, from computer graphics to robotics to mobile computing.
Disney Research is currently made up of a number of labs, including Disney Interactive Media Group Research, Pixar Research, Walt Disney Animation Studios Research, and Walt Disney Imagineering Research. There are also research labs in Pittsburgh, PA and Zurich, Switzerland.
If I hear anything else about this, I’ll be sure to let you all know!
