Before you get too excited, I should tell you this seems to be more of a business deal. The good news is that Disney content will continue to appear on Hulu, but it also sounds like the number of ads displayed during shows will increase as well. I should also tell you, however, that this isn’t being done solely for ad revenue. In fact, it seems this will be a catalyst to new ownership for Hulu. The current owners of the popular content streaming site (that includes Disney itself) have decided to sell, and this deal will add value to the site for any prospective buyer. This ensures that Disney content will be available and ad revenue will be there. Fox has also agreed to a similar deal recently, and it appears that NBCUniversal is next on the slate.

Those social moms are at it again. This Wednesday, June 22, the moms are hosting a live event on Facebook. They’ll discuss the differences between value, moderate, and deluxe hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort and how to pick the perfect place for your situation. Interested? Me too. Click here to go the event page on Facebook!
See you there!
After so much anticipation, World of Color finally made its grand debut on Thursday, June 10. Those in attendance got a magnificent show, but Disney made an interesting move that allowed thousands of people worldwide to see the show’s birth as well. The show itself is astounding in terms of technology, but having its debut also be a live webcast is tech genius.
That’s right. Disney hosted a live broadcast on USTREAM.tv that allowed everyone to experience the first showing of World of Color. The World of Color channel is still up at USTREAM, so click here if you want to check it out (although it doesn’t look like you’ll find the video there, I’ll give you a place to find it a little later).

This week’s episode of Betamouse covers one of my favorite topics in Disney technology: the Living Character Initiative. On the heels of Disney’s "playtest" with the talking Mickey Mouse character that appeared in Disneyland, the panel discusses the pros and cons of this video, as well as some other topics concerning the LCI.
Personally, I loved the video (I’ve embedded it below). I hope this technology gets perfected soon so we can see this a little more regularly, and possibly have it become an everyday attraction. Listen to this episode of Betamouse to hear what the panel has to say!

Oh, and if anyone in the Betamouse panel is reading, how about a show on the Facebook privacy debacle that’s brewed over the last few weeks? A lot of the Disney community congregates on Facebook, so this could have some implications on the community. Just a thought…
This week’s episode of Betamouse is somewhat meta for me. I’ve been through the first days and weeks of a blog, and I wish this episode would have been here a year ago! If you’re thinking about starting up a Disney blog (or any blog, for that matter) give this episode a go. The panel discusses everything from finding your passion and choosing a blogging platform (DisTECH is on WordPress, an excellent platform) to overcoming the first post jitters.
Oh, and congratulations to the Touring Plans crew for an awesome new site design. Touring Plans sponsors the Betamouse podcast, so be sure to give some love to the sponsors! Visit the site at touringplans.com!
The Betamouse podcast has hit double-digits today! Episode #10 is out and ready for consumption, and they’re discussing what could be the tech product of 2010: Apple’s iPad. Listen to this week’s episode for the panel’s thoughts on the new device, how it could be used in your Disney travels, and more! Also, head on over to the blog to post your comments and ideas for Disney and the iPad.
As usual, you can listen directly on the Betamouse web site or download the show in iTunes. You could even listen on your iPad now. Just sayin’.
The newest episode of Betamouse is ready for your listening pleasure! This episode is all about the community of Disney blogs out there. Find out the panelists’ favorite blogs, favorite blog layouts, and get some tips on what they think makes a good blog. Also, you’ll hear about RSS readers, such as Google Reader. And don’t miss out on Henry’s rants!
To listen or comment on the episode, head over to the Betamouse site. You can also download the show in iTunes (even though you’ll have to wait until Saturday if you want to listen on your shiny new iPad).
