Betamouse – "Starting Your Disney Blog."

This week’s episode of Betamouse is somewhat meta for me.  I’ve been through the first days and weeks of a blog, and I wish this episode would have been here a year ago!  If you’re thinking about starting up a Disney blog (or any blog, for that matter) give this episode a go.  The panel discusses everything from finding your passion and choosing a blogging platform (DisTECH is on WordPress, an excellent platform) to overcoming the first post jitters.

Head on over to the Betamouse site to listen to the episode.  You can also download and subscribe to the show in iTunes.

Oh, and congratulations to the Touring Plans crew for an awesome new site design.  Touring Plans sponsors the Betamouse podcast, so be sure to give some love to the sponsors!  Visit the site at touringplans.com!

betamouse The newest episode of Betamouse is ready for your listening pleasure!  This episode is all about the community of Disney blogs out there.  Find out the panelists’ favorite blogs, favorite blog layouts, and get some tips on what they think makes a good blog.  Also, you’ll hear about RSS readers, such as Google Reader.  And don’t miss out on Henry’s rants!

To listen or comment on the episode, head over to the Betamouse site.  You can also download the show in iTunes (even though you’ll have to wait until Saturday if you want to listen on your shiny new iPad).

Thomas Smith and Disney Moms on WDW Radio.

This week’s WDW Radio Show was like a mini social media extravaganza, and I thought it should be mentioned on a blog about technology.  Host Lou Mongello started the show by talking to a panel of Disney Moms about the recent Summer Nightastic! announcement.  These moms are all great presences in the social media world, and you’ll find links to all of their blogs in the show notes.

Lou also interviewed Thomas Smith, Social Media Director for Disney Parks.  Smith can be found on the Disney Parks Blog and other social media venues.  He had a lot of great things to say about the blog and the Disney community in general, so I recommend giving the show a listen if you haven’t already.

You can listen to the show online or download it from iTunes.  Click here to listen and read the show notes, where you’ll find links to Disney’s official Social Media sites and links to the blogs of the Disney Moms.

Disney Parks enters the blogging world!

Since my last post was about the Disney Blogosphere, this seems like a fitting next step to take.  Today, Disney Parks launched their official blog.  Check it out at DisneyParks.com/blog.  So far, they have a few interesting posts (a couple about Halloween time at the parks, one introduction, and one about autonomatronics).  This is definitely worth reading, and I welcome any foray Disney would like to take into social media and social networking.  And don’t forget to leave a comment as that’s a sure-fire way to get Disney to hear what the fans think about those topics.

I first heard about this story from The Disney Blog, so thanks to John Frost.  Head over there and join in his discussion also, because he has some very good commentary about the new blog as well.  (Also, if you’re as big a fan of The Disney Blog as I am, click here to help Mr. Frost out.  I know he would appreciate any help our community can provide.)

One last update for today: I’m working on a new article that I should have posted tomorrow – if all goes well.  Be on the lookout for that.  Also, head on over to dizfanatic.com and get acquainted with things there.  I’m very excited to be starting to work on a column that will appear on DizFanatic.  A huge thanks to the people there for inviting me to write for them!  Keep your eyes peeled for these exciting new events at DisTECH!

The Disney Blog on the Disney blogosphere.

I found a really great article last night on The Disney Blog.  It’s actually their 5,000th post, so congratulations are in order!  It’s a wonderful look back on how The Disney Blog came to life, and a commentary on the Disney Online Community.  I know John Frost’s article is called “State of the Disney Blogosphere”, but it’s really about so much more than only blogs.

Personally, I love being a part of the Disney Blogosphere.  This is a wonderful community, and I’m proud to call myself a part of it.  Keep up the great work over there at The Disney Blog!
